Students in Maryland public schools will take either state assessments or Common Core State Standards exams next month under a federal waiver that excuses schools from "double testing" students. Maryland is one of 36 states and Washington, D.C., that have agreed to administer field tests of common core assessments. The state is one of six excused from double testing, and nine other states are seeking the same permission.
