Does the staff turnover rate of a nursing home correlate with survey deficiencies? A U.S. study looked at 1,151 nursing home facilities that had complete deficiency data. Turnover for the past three months among full-time CNAs/licensed nurses was found to be associated with quality problems as indicated by deficiencies reported. This supports a need for resources to help administrators and directors of nursing address the relationship between turnover and quality of care. (Free abstract only.)
