An MRI-based approach using a type of iron supplement as a contrast agent was just as effective as traditional radiation scans in detecting tumors, according to a study of 22 8- to 33-year-olds with malignant tumors. The new technique detected 158 tumors, while PET-CT scans found 163 tumors, researchers wrote in The Lancet Oncology.
