New research suggests that interfering with the activity of the protein endothelin-1 may help slow disease progression by promoting myelin repair in patients with multiple sclerosis. ET-1 inhibits repair of myelin, the protective nervous system covering. Researchers said the protein could be a useful therapeutic target. Study details appear in the journal Neuron.
