Lobbyists for electronic cigarette companies are nervously awaiting the results of the Office of Management and Budget's review of proposed rules that would put e-cigarettes under FDA jurisdiction. The rules could also require companies to limit online sales and marketing to children, acquire prior approval for new products, list the ingredients in their products, and register and pay fees. The OMB has not provided a date for when the review will be complete, but public records show that OMB officials have not met with outsiders since Jan. 17, leading some to think the office has all the information it needs, this article suggests.
