Inadequate staffing, extra duties and regulatory paperwork were cited by hospital-based registered nurses as factors that take time away from patient care, according to a survey by Jackson Healthcare, Care Logistics and Jackson Nurse Professionals. Most nurses rated teamwork and communication as good or excellent at their facilities, and of RNs who were dissatisfied with their jobs, 75% felt that nursing had changed for the worse. A positive culture is associated not only with greater job satisfaction but also with improved patient care, Jackson Healthcare's Bob Schlotman said.
