Hospital readmission rates were lower among patients who had robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomies, compared with those who had other types of surgery, such as laparoscopic, open abdominal and vaginal, researchers reported in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. The study found hospital lengths of stay, readmission costs and estimated blood loss also were lower for patients in the robotic surgery group.
