Patients with systemic sclerosis were more likely to suffer osteoporotic fractures including vertebral and hip fractures compared with a control group, according to a study of data involving almost 12,000 people in Taiwan. The risk was higher among women, patients with bowel dysmotility and those taking high doses of steroids, researchers said. The study was published in the journal Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
