A lawsuit has been filed challenging construction of a 1.4 million-square-foot shopping mall being developed by Related Cos. and Sterling Equities. The suit claims the megamall can't be built because part of it is on parkland. The mall is part of the $3 billion Willets Point mixed-use development in Queens, New York. The suit is "baseless," and the "project will not only clean up a toxic site that has been severely contaminated for generations, but it will create tens of thousands of jobs," according to a spokesman of the Queens Development Group.
