Taiwan is expected to import 800,000 tons of shale natural gas every year from the U.S. starting in 2017, said Lin Sheng-chung, chairman of state-owned oil and gas firm CPC Petroleum. "Prices for natural gas go up and down every now and then. U.S. gas is a lot cheaper than from the Middle East, so this could be a good deal," Lin said.
