House Republicans led by Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., have released a discussion draft to update the Toxic Substances Control Act. The draft, which may be ready for a markup in April, would direct the Environmental Protection Agency to focus its attention on high-priority chemicals. "The vast majority of chemicals are low priority, and we really want to free up the time and energy to focus on the more important chemicals," Shimkus said.
