The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service indefinitely suspended operations at Central Valley Meat in Hanford, Calif., because of failures to meet cleanliness standards. "The plant's suspension will be lifted once we receive adequate assurances of corrective action," the agency said. The facility was suspended for a week in 2012 for animal abuse and was involved in a recall of 58,000 pounds of beef intended for school lunches last September.
