Telecommuting technology has opened the door for businesses to capitalize on their human resources by breaking down the geographical boundaries that once constrained the talent pool. However, according to Steven Robinson, regional vice president for Robert Half Technology, remote work may not be for everyone. Robinson says before cutting employees lose, managers need to weigh the potential impact of a loss of face-to-face collaboration -- which is more critical in some professions than others -- and establish strong communication practices.
