Data show that the economy as a whole added 113,000 jobs last month, but there was a drop in the number of jobs held by women. "Today's jobs figures are especially worrisome for women who lost 51,000 net jobs in January, including 30,000 public sector jobs," said Joan Entmacher, vice president for Family Economic Security at the National Women's Law Center. In addition to feeling the brunt of public-sector job loss, women also lost positions in the retail industry.
