IAB joined other advertising industry representatives at the White House on Thursday to talk to government officials about the vital role advertising plays online. Before the meeting, GroupM's John Montgomery said the public's misconception of data collection was on top of his list of wrongs to right. "There is confusion between the collection and storage of data and what happens in advertising. Consumers just presume their personal data is being collected by everyone that is collecting data," he said.
