The University of Alabama in Huntsville's "Let's Pretend Hospital" program did more than just let local elementary-school students learn what a hospital visit is like. The program, in which the young students were "admitted" to the makeshift hospital, provided an opportunity for the university's senior nursing students to practice their skills, including the ability to communicate health information to patients who don't know a lot about medical matters, said Melissa Lonnergan, co-coordinator of the program.
