State veterinarian Scott Marshall says his office will advise the state to amend current laws to keep up with the introduction of unconventional pets. Veterinarian Christina Lorenson, president of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association, says the pigs might be suitable pets for some families, but she notes it's important to research the animal thoroughly -- including how large it will get -- before adopting.
