The number of ASTA-member travel agents that reported profitability in 2013 rose 10% compared with figures in 2011 and 2012, the 2014 ASTA Agency Profile shows, and two-thirds of agencies were profitable. ASTA also reported increased consolidation among agencies, as indicated by a decline in percentage shares among agencies with sales between $1 million and $50 million. "Once again, travel agencies have shown their resilience and ability to adapt to a constantly changing marketplace," ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby said.
