Some clinicians say electronic health records are time-consuming and can interfere with patient relationships during office visits, but others find they increase quality of care and efficiency. Registered nurse Bonnie Westra said EHRs give patients more control over their health care, but Dr. Dave Thorson said it can take physicians time to master their use so they do not lead to less patient eye contact during an office visit.
