Cindy Thesing of Sparta, Wis., said a colon cancer diagnosis following her first colonoscopy at age 50 was a shock but she had quick medical care and followed her treatment regimen. Since her diagnosis about four years ago, Thesing said she gets colorectal cancer screenings every three years and has inspired others to get a colonoscopy. "My story is going to be somebody else's story. People shouldn't think that it doesn't happen to [them.] Because it can, and it does," she said.
