A growing number of physicians are aiming for political office, which many see as a good fit for the achievement-oriented and self-assured personalities common in medicine. Physician-candidates from Oregon, North Carolina, Louisiana, Kansas and Georgia hope to join the three physicians in the Senate, while 17 doctors currently serve in the House, with a total of 26 seeking election or re-election there. "When you're a Type A surgeon, as I am, one thing leads to another," said Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga. "The next thing you know, somebody is asking you to run for office."
