Drug safety received twice the news coverage in 2013 as in 2012 and more than three times the coverage of drug prices and FDA-pharma interaction, PharmExec's annual audit of the top five U.S. newspapers found. About 47% of the coverage was negative, high drug prices was the third-most covered issue and coverage of health care reform was about 3.7 times higher in 2013 than in 2012, the analysis found. Patients and prescribers will be increasingly well-informed, making it harder for drugmakers to differentiate their products, the audit predicts.
