Food industry jobs may vary widely in the work that's involved, but all are subject to cyclical changes fueled by the economy's ups and downs, as well as the long-term transformation that comes with new technology. Jobs in restaurants and foodservice are rising faster again after a severe slowdown in growth during the recession, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which forecasts a 12% rise in food and beverage service jobs between 2012 and 2022.
