The intense pulsed-light laser may be the most important advance in dermatologic lasers and light sources, and has become the go-to instrument for skin rejuvenation, dermatologist and ASDS member Michael Gold says. Fractional laser technology is another important advance, and new generations are easier to use but still require skill, Gold says. Future advances include combined therapies, targeted radiofrequency devices and ultrasound, and some older devices are likely to be around for a long time, he says.
