The Healthy People program failed to meet some of its cancer screening objectives set by HHS and based on recommendations by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, according to a report published in the CDC's journal Preventing Chronic Disease. Overall screening rates for cervical and breast cancer fell slightly between 2008 and 2010, and cancer testing and counseling by providers also fell below set targets, the report notes.
