Sen. Barbara Boxer claimed this week that "more than half" of women who take oral contraceptives do so for medical reasons, not just to prevent pregnancy. That's only half-true: while 58% of women say they have reasons other than contraception for taking birth control pills, only 14% say they take the pill exclusively for noncontraceptive reasons.
