A JAMA study found that HbA1C readings contribute little to predicting an individual's risk of cardiovascular disease using a traditional heart-health assessment. U.K. researchers analyzed data from 73 studies that included almost 295,000 patients, first looking at risk based on cholesterol levels, smoking and blood pressure and then adding in HbA1C readings.
