Jordan Livingston was born profoundly deaf in both ears, but he wasn't going to let that stand in the way of his love for aviation. He received one cochlear implant as a toddler, and his family and his health insurance paid for a second one when he was 16, which enabled him to pass the Federal Aviation Administration's medical exam. Cochlear Americas recently awarded him an $8,000 scholarship toward his training at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz.
