Huawei Technologies and Xilinx collaborated on development of a router line card, a prototype of which they demonstrated this week at the Optical Fiber Conference in San Francisco. The card is said to be capable of transmitting data at 400 gigabits per second over an Ethernet-based network. The prototype is built around two Xilinx field-programmable gate arrays made with a 28-nanometer process.
