Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., is calling for the immediate passage of a bill to curb the abuse of prescription drugs. "It's critical that Congress puts in place a commonsense approach to help families and law enforcement," the senator said. The Increasing the Safety of Prescription Drug Use Act would require a Government Accountability Office study of federal policies and prescription drug abuse programs as well as establish a national database of opioid prescriptions for pharmacists and doctors to check.
