Intraoperative ultrasound helped detect new lesions and provided more details for known lesions during resection of colorectal liver metastasis, resulting in changes in surgical decisions in 43% of patients, according to a retrospective study presented at the annual meeting of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. Blood loss was higher during these procedures, and there was no variation in negative surgical margins between those who had intraoperative ultrasound versus those who didn't.
