The Women's Economic Security Act, which was scheduled for a committee hearing in the Minnesota House this week, would compel businesses that work with the state to make sure men and women are receiving equal pay for equal work. "We've made little progress when it comes to closing this income gap between men and women so we can't keep looking for excuses as why not to do it," said state Rep. Carly Melin, the bill's sponsor.
