A survey of registered nurses found that those who are newly licensed are becoming more likely to work for a nursing home, researchers reported in the American Journal of Nursing. Less than 3% of newly licensed RNs got jobs in nursing homes in 2004-2005, compared with 7.8% of new nurses in 2010-2011. More than 1 in 4 new nurses leave their first job within two years, the study said.
