An analysis of data on about 6,000 U.K. children found that obese 11-year-old girls were more likely to receive lower school grades at ages 11, 13 and 16 compared with their normal-weight counterparts. The association between obesity and academic performance was less pronounced among boys, according to the study published in the International Journal of Obesity.
