Wearable mobile technology may open the way to the next stage in in-store marketing, according to Office Depot. In a video produced for eTail West 2014, the retailer demonstrated how a shopper using a smart watch could scan QR codes to redeem discounts. "[We’re] really trying to find ways to make the mobile experience as simple as desktop. In fact, in some ways, maybe even easier to use than desktop because the focus is on a very small amount of real estate and very specific behaviors," said Kevin Moffitt, Office Depot's vice president of e-commerce strategy.
