With a $3.7 million VA grant, Ohio-based WillowWood is collaborating with Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center in a 26-month project to develop an improved above-knee prosthesis, using sensors to monitor its interaction with bone and flesh. Their joint study looks at what makes a prosthesis more responsive, reliable and a better fit for the patient, according to Jim Colvin, WillowWood’s director of research and development.
