The fitness-tracking application RunKeeper launched in 2008 and now has 28 million users who keep track of their activities as well as follow their friends' progress. Founder Jason Jacobs envisions the app taking on a broader social focus moving forward and has opened up its API to 100 developers for their own apps. "We are not just a tracker, but are very focused on personalized guidance and motivation," he said.
