The right retail centers with the right tenants and in the right locations will always be able to compete with e-commerce retailers, David Simon, CEO of Simon Property Group, said at the Charles Grossman Lecture in Philadelphia. "I don't care what the Internet does, it's never going to affect the King of Prussia" retail center, he said. Simon stressed the necessity of improving shopping center experiences going forward to make consumers feel as satisfied as when they stay at well-run hotels. During the lecture, Simon also reminisced about development and acquisition milestones the company has hit since going public in 1993.
