When new positions are created at a company, women have a better chance at claiming those spots if there are already a lot of women in leadership roles, research has found. The study, which was conducted by researchers from the University of Arizona and McGill University, was based on a sample of advertising agencies in the 1980s and 1990s. "This finding supports the idea that having more women in the pipeline begets even more women -- that is, as long as the new jobs created for them aren't too risky to yield success," writes Jena McGregor.
