An analysis of data from 18 studies showed a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus colonization prevalence of 1.5% for neonates admitted to a NICU and 3.0% for children admitted to a PICU, researchers reported in the journal Pediatrics. The study found a 24.2% risk of developing a MRSA infection among colonized NICU and PICU patients.
