European studies of more than 150,000 mother-child pairs indicate pregnant women who ate at least one weekly serving of fish reduced their risk of pre-term birth by 11% to 13%. The women who ate fish three times weekly gave birth to babies who weighed about 15 grams more than those born to mothers who ate less fish, according to the findings, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
