Physician and associate professor Charles Keller of Oregon Health & Science University's Knight Cancer Institute is conducting research on dogs with osteosarcoma in an effort to find effective treatments for children with the same cancer. Osteosarcoma is common in dogs and children, Dr. Keller said, and he is working to develop an individualized approach to treatment, tailoring drug choices based on how they affect an individual dog's tumor. His team has had some success, and he hopes to enlist at least 40 dogs for the study.
