While chocolate bars may sell better than bite-size pouch bags, 42 billion units compared to 35 billion units, respectively, in 2013, Euromonitor predicts a rise in stand-up pouch packaging as caramel, nougat and toffee sales are the fastest growing confectionery products. Sales of toffee and caramel is estimated to grow at 10% per year until 2018, while chocolate bars are predicted to have only 2% growth. The rise of toffee and caramel will lead to the sale of 514 million pouch bags in the U.S. by 2018, according to Euromonitor.
