More than 5,300 workers are building what will become the Louvre Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and the project has just reached a new milestone with the completion of its first gallery. Crews also have finished a majority of the concrete work for the basement levels of the building. "More than 10 million working hours have been dedicated to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, reflecting the amount of foundation work that the museum requires," said Ali Al Hammadi of the Tourism Development and Investment Co. "Despite the challenging and complicated design, construction of the ground has been progressing steadily and on schedule."
