About 300 public- and private-school teachers from 27 schools in the United Arab Emirates recently attended a conference in which 10 teachers presented their 10-minute solutions to classroom challenges. "The best advice I ever got as a teacher concerning discipline is that authority is an illusion", said Terrence Lorick, who teaches grade five.
