A paradigm shift aimed at blending professional and personal lives, rather than achieving work-life balance, is needed for nurses to avoid being burned out and feeling drained, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses President Vicki Good said. Setting reasonable expectations and gaining support, as well as establishing a career path based on one's skills set and preferences are some of the ways nurses can create work-life synergy.
