Alliant Energy announced it plans to break ground in June on its new natural-gas power plant in Iowa after it received the final permit for the project Monday. "I think we are looking forward to starting to sink steel here later this summer," said Ryan Stensland, a spokesman with the company. "It's a great step forward." The $750 million project will generate roughly 600 megawatts of electricity and is slated for completion by 2017.
