The National Food Institute of Denmark looked into five compounds as replacements for BPA but determined none are suitable alternatives because they offer similar concerns. Denmark temporarily banned BPA in "food contact materials" for children under the age of four until it can determine if BPA impacts nervous system development. The next step is to study compounds that are present in other food packaging materials and aren’t BPA analogues, said NFI researcher Anna Kjerstine Rosenmai.
