The Alabama Senate is debating a bill that would allow the state Public Service Commission to provide permits for proposed wind farms, which would have to follow specific conditions before approval. The outcome of the bill is being followed by wind power companies that expressed interest in building wind farms in the state. "Should S.B. 12 pass we are certain that it would kill our Shinbone project in Cherokee County and then we would have to assess the viability of our larger project, Noccalula," said Patrick Buckley, development manager of Pioneer Green, which plans two wind farms in the area.
