Thirty-eight percent of overweight and obese type 2 diabetes patients who followed either low-fat or low-carb Jenny Craig diets lost 10% of their initial body weight at one year, compared with 9% of those who received usual care, a study revealed. Researchers also found 72% of patients on the commercial weight-loss plans either reduced or stopped taking insulin before meals, while only 8% of those in the control group were able to do so. The findings appear in Diabetes Care.
